We are open Saturday and Sunday, 10am - 5pm, whenever the boats are not out fishing (mid-June to late August). Founded in 1913 by a public vote, the first port commission president Hiram Chittenden stated that the purpose of Fishermen's Terminal was to provide a safe harbor for the fishing fleet and a place for them to market their products. Since 1913, Fishermen's Terminal has been an economic engine in Seattle. Recent Port of Seattle figures indicate Fishermen's Terminal generates over 5,000 jobs and 400 million dollars annually in economic revenue.
Fishermen's Terminal is unique in that it is the only dedicated commercial fishing port in a major American city. Along with the Pike Place Market, Fishermen's Terminal is one of Seattle's core institutions and a cultural heritage site for the Pacific Northwest.
We have been actively involved in the struggle to preserve Fishermen's Terminal as a working waterfront. In 2001, the Port of Seattle issued a $50,000 contract to prepare Fishermen's Terminal for sale to a private buyer. We were central in stopping this transfer of a public resource to private interests. Check out the B.J.
